- Indian to Nepal by Flights
Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is the only International airport in the Nepal but Pokhara & Lumbini airport are under construction for international airport. There are a handful of airlines that operate daily from major Indian cities including Jet Airways, Indigo and Air India, Nepal Airlines, Vistara Airlines are daily operating flight from Indian to Kathmandu Nepal. 2.India to Nepal by Bus
Bus is the most convenient option to reach Nepal from India. There are direct buses that operate between Delhi and Kathmandu. Travelling by car is also a common practice. You are required to pay a toll fee and a transport permit at the border crossing. Do not forget to collect the receipts as you might be asked at other checkpoints. Please note, there is a lot of traffic at the border that often makes the journey tedious.
3.India to Nepal by Train
From Delhi, board a train to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. After reaching the destination, avail the shared jeep or a bus for the onward journey to Sunauli border. The travel time is approximately 3 hours. From the other side of the border in Bhairahawa, take another shared jeep or bus to reach Kathmandu. This bus travel will cost you around INR 600.
Please note only overnight buses run late in the afternoon or evening. They take more time and you would miss getting a glimpse of the picturesque landscape on the way. Hence, it is always a better idea to board the day buses that stop operating late afternoon.
Travel Documents from India to Nepal Travel:
Passports
People from all countries except India require a valid passport to enter Nepal. An Indian national must have any of their documents like Valid Passport, Election Commission Card (Voter Id) with Photo or Identity Card issued by Embassy of India in Kathmandu if they are coming by Flight in Kathmandu but if they are coming by road/train they can come with an ID card which issue by the Indian Government.
For Indian children below the age of 18 years the school, birth certificate or college ID is sufficient. The ID should clearly reflect the traveler’s picture, school or college name, date of birth as well as the class in which the student is studying.
Visas
An Indian national do not need a visa to enter into Nepal. Most nationalities can issue a visa on arrival to Nepal but travelers from other countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan need the visa to be obtained before travel.
Validity
Various lengths of stay tourist visas can be purchased. If you want to obtain a visa on arrival, you will need to fill in a landing card, (most airlines provide these before landing in Kathmandu, if not, they will be available in the airport) pay a fee (cost differs depending on your length of stay) and provide a passport photo so don’t forget to bring one in your hand luggage to present to the immigration officers.

US$ 40 or equivalent convertible currency: Multiple entries for 30 days
US$ 100 or equivalent convertible currency: Multiple entries for 90 days
