2. Kalapathar (EBC)

Kalapatthar means Black Rock and Kalapatthar got this name due to black colouration of stone at the summit area. The trip to the summit of Kalapatthar (5644m) is an add-on trek of EBC trek for many trekkers and it has been gaining popularity among them. The trekkers make the trip to Kalapatthar to view sunset and sunrise over the mountains which is one of the best experience one can see throughout the trek.

One cannot miss an opportunity to hike up to Kalapatther and see what it offers. The journey to Kalapatthar starts from Gorakshep and climb up passing to rugged trails and larger boulders on the way. Kalapatther’s summit is marked by prayer flags fluttering against brute air force. The summit offers the best view of Mt Everest, the world tallest mountain. 6 Ama Dablam Mountain

7.Lhotse Mountain 

Soaring with an altitude of 8,516m, Lhotse is the fourth highest mountain in the world. Lhotse means South peak in Tibetan and this peak is connected to Mt Everest via South col. Apart from the main peak, there are smaller peaks; Lhotse middle (8,414m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m). The route to the top of the summit is similar up to the camp 4 of Everest Expedition and onwards it gets steepen sharply with the icy gully. Lhotse lies in between the border of Nepal and Tibet in the Khumbu region of Nepal. Because of its connectivity with Everest sometimes it is considered as the part of Everest massifs. The main summit was first climbed by the Swiss team of Ernst Reiss and Fritz Luchsinger in the year 1956.

8. Khumbu Glacier 

Khumbu Glacier, the world’s highest glacier and the largest glacier of Nepal stand at an elevation of 4,900m at its terminus and 7,600m at its source. It is a large debris-covered glacier which lies in between Mt Everest and Lhotse-Nuptse ridge in the Khumbu region. It is 12 km long and drained from western Cwm near Everest. The Khumbu glacier has a Khumbu Icefall at the west end of western Cwm.  The Khumbu Glacier melts into the Lobujya (Lobuche) River of Nepal, which flows southward as the Imja River to its confluence with the Dudh Kosi River.

This village is a popular stopover for acclimatization and resting ground. There are many lodges available to provide facilities for guests with modern amenities.

At Pheriche, there is a hospital established by Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) in the year 1973. Initially, it was a small aid post established with motives to prevent the death of Nepali and foreigner trekkers from Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
