Thame

Thame is a small Sherpa settlement in Solukhumbu District of Nepal. This lies in the salt trade route in between Tibet, India and Nepal. Thame is the village that gave birth to many legendary heroes like Apa Sherpa who has summited the Everest for 21 times. Tenzing Norgay who was born in this village and many other known legends are born here.

There is a monastery called Thame Monastery which is one of the oldest monasteries in the Khumbu Region of Nepal. Every year, the Mani Rimdu festival is observed with great enthusiasm and excitement. Hundreds of tourist visit especially to celebrate this festival.
