Tengboche
Tengboche is one of the most beautiful villages in the world. It is situated at an altitude 3867 m in Khumbu Valley. There is a Tengboche Monastery built on a hill at the confluence of Dudh Koshi and Imja River. It is a mid-way station of the trail to Mt Everest and other peaks. The finest view of Mt Ama Dablam to the backdrop of Tengboche Monastery is way beyond comparison.
The notable feature of this area is Tengboche Monastery, the largest gompa in Khumbu Region and 19 days long Mani Rimdu festival celebrated during 10th Lunar Month of Tibetan Calendar (October-November). Thousands of tourist visit this area every year and the people living here are engaged in tourism business from the time the Mt Everest was conquered by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgey Sherpa.
