Kalinchowk Temple

Kalinchok Bhagwati Temple is a Hindu shrine perched on the top of the ridge at an altitude of 3842m. It is located near Gaurishankhar Conservation Area. Getting to the top is a tremendous uphill walk for about 1 to 2 hours. Upon reaching the top, you will see the shrine decorated with Buddhist prayers flags and tridents everywhere. Lots of Buddhist and Hindu visit this holiest temple to pay their homage and get the blessing. On a clear day, the panoramic view of mountain series like Langtang Himal, Gaurishankar Himal, Ganesh Himal, Shisha Pangma, Dorje Lakpa, and Jugal Himal can be seen. It is believed that even the Kathmandu valley can be seen on a very distant horizon.

Kalinchowk can be the quick escape destination for travelers from Kathmandu as it is just 150 km away. Kathmandu to Charikot is 132 km and the road is smooth for most of the parts while 18 km to the Kuri village is off the road. The reaching to Kuri village during monsoon can be more challenging and technical. From Kuri to the temple is just 1 hours hike. There are various guesthouse in the Charikot and Kuri village for those travelers who prefer to stay overnight and enjoy their journey otherwise people can visit and return to Kathmandu in a single day too.
