Gokyo

Gokyo is a small village in the Khumbu region. It is situated at the foot of Gokyo Ri, the famous mountains in Khumbu Region. At the western part of the valley, there is Gokyo Cho (Dudh Pokhari), the third Gokyo Lake. To the southeast of the village, there is Chharchung village. It is situated at an altitude of 4750m, this is the highest level possible human settlement in the world. There is some guesthouse to provide lodging facilities to trekkers during seasons. These houses are stoned walled. During winter, all the local people move down to Namche Bazaar or below villages.

There is an exceptional chance to view the ranges of the Himalayas like Mt Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu and the largest glacier in the world – Ngozompa Glacier. The varied scenery of Gokyo valley along with the Gokyo Lakes has enchanted the hearts of lots of tourists visiting Everest Region. That is why this place is crowded and lively during the season.
