Changunarayan

Changunarayan Temple is a Hindu temple perched on the top of the hill. It is 4 km north of Bhaktapur City. The history of Changurnarayan temple dated back to 3000 years ago. This temple is the oldest temple within Kathmandu valley. The stone inscription erected by King Manadev proves the temple to the oldest one. The temple was built on the 4th century but it was renovated in 1702, early 18th century. This two storyed pagoda style temple was built in dedication of Lord Vishnu and Hindu people hold great veneration to this temple. On various occasions like fairs and festival, people visit this temple to pay their homage and get the blessing and protection from Lord Vishnu. There is a human settlement before the courtyard of the temple and people can be found engaging in trading activities as the tourists visit keep on rising.
