Budhanilkantha Temple
Budanilkantha Temple is 10 km to the northern part of Kathmandu just below the Shivapuri Hill. The temple is dedicated to the Lord Vishnu and the statue of Vishnu lies reclining in the open air. Budanilkantha means Old Blue Throat and this statue was believed to be found when the local farmer was ploughing his field and found the long lost deity, Budanilkantha. The statue is 5 m tall made of Basalt stone; reclining at the 13 m long recessed pool of water.
