Monjo

Monjo is a small settlement in the Khumbu region of Nepal.  It is situated at an altitude of 2835m from the sea level. This village lies north of Phakding, a popular stopover for trekkers and south of Jorsale. This village lies in the Dudh Koshi Valley at the foot of Thamserku Peak.  There is also a small gompa off the main trail.

Monjo is also famous for the alternative stopover for those trekkers who are going for Gokyo Lake trek. There are some guesthouses to provide accommodation to trekkers at affordable prices. Some guesthouse provides wifi facilities to guests with extra payment for its use. At this place, there is an entry point to Sagarmatha National Park. Trekkers have to show their trekking permit at this point to further continue their journey.  The trekkers trek from Phakding and reach Benkar then approach Monjo. From here onward, the trekker follows the path to Jorsale and reach Namche – the biggest settlement of Sherpa people.
